International AIDS Society Conference in Cape Town, South Africa

Meeting Hosted by UCLA
Dr Ardis Moe and her colleagues from the University of California (Los Angeles) hosted a series of presentations on 22nd July 2009 at the International AIDS Society conference in Cape Town. Dr Moe and the Infectious Diseases Unit at UCLA are long standing partners of Aurum and they have been instrumental in facilitating an exchange programme between Aurum and UCLA; in which several local Aurum-supported doctors have benefitted. After a sumptuous meal, Dr Ardis Moe gave a very entertaining presentation on Immune Reconstitution Inflammatory Syndrome which included analogies of the body immune system with a Hollywood movie set. This was followed by two very comprehensive presentations by Dr Ronald Mitsuyasu and Dr Debika Battacharya on Kaposi Sarcoma and HIV oncology and Debika Battacharya on Hepatitis B and HIV. The event was attended by around 20 Aurum staff and partners. Thank you so much Ardis for pulling together this event and thank you to all those who attended.
