Department of Health to outline progress in tuberculosis control in South Africa to the International Meeting of Researchers in Cape Town on Monday 12 October 2009
The Deputy Minister of health Dr Molefi Sefularo will address an annual meeting of some 85 TB and HIV researchers from South Africa, Zambia, Brazil, United States and England. The Deputy Minister's address will outline progress in tuberculosis control in South Africa.
The meeting being held October 12-14, 2009 in Cape Town, has been organized by the Consortium to Respond Effectively to the AIDS/TB Epidemic (CREATE) and Aurum Research Institute.
CREATE is a consortium of innovative community-based studies aimed at reducing TB incidence in high burden TB/HIV countries and influencing global TV/HIV policy. South Africa is one of three countries chosen to participate in these trials and is conducting two studies in Western Cape.
