The next three and a half years, KNCV Tuberculosis Foundation will lead the innovative ASCENT project, which stands for Adherence Support Coalition to End TB. This brand new project is funded by Unitaid through a grant of almost US$ 14 million and will be implemented in five different countries (Ethiopia, Tanzania, the Philippines, South Africa and Ukraine). It will support TB patients during their treatment with digital adherence technologies. These groundbreaking innovations have great added value for both patients and caregivers.

The award-winning “Pelebox,” created by South African engineer Neo Hutiri, is a computer-controlled vending machine stocked with prescription drugs, which patients
access using a personal code.
Biannually, the UNITAID NGO Delegation holds a strategy retreat to discuss key strategic priorities for organisations that comprise the delegation and to visit UNITAID projects as well as build links with local civil society that work on innovation and access to prevention, treatment and care.
Working together, The Aurum Institute and UnlockD decrease the spread of HIV and reduce the high levels of youth unemployment through a large-scale holistic program which equips youth from heavily-burdened communities with knowledge and education about HIV and AIDS; skills development and work experience in healthcare facilities across South Africa.
