From advanced HIV disease to community-led research, Aurum and IMPAACT4HIV brought evidence, expertise and lived experience to AIDS 2026 in Rio de Janeiro.
The IMPAACT4HIV Satellite Session was a key moment of the week, bringing partners, policymakers, researchers and community leaders together to ask an important question: How do we build advanced HIV disease care that lasts?
The discussion explored what it takes to translate evidence into policy, access and delivery, from strengthening health systems and community engagement to addressing barriers to diagnostics and treatment.
Across the conference, Aurum and IMPAACT4HIV also showcased evidence from the Democratic Republic of Congo, highlighted the experiences of communities through the IMPAACT4HIV Community Spotlight, and launched new resources on histoplasmosis and community engagement in AHD.
Aurum researchers also shared work examining the social, behavioural and structural factors shaping HIV outcomes in South Africa.
