Dr Njeri Kamere
Dr. Njeri is a versatile clinician specialising in both Ophthalmology and HIV-related Public Health.
She has over 15 years’ experience in the public health field, and she has been part of the Aurum Senior Leadership team since June 2020. HSD is the largest unit within Aurum, with both the highest funding and human resource compliment (750 staff) across the organisation.
Dr. Njeri has vast experience in both implementation of large healthcare programmes and clinical trial set up and management. This experience, gained from living and working in Kenya and South Africa and undertaking consultancies in various countries in Africa and Asia, has equipped her with the unique ability to manage the complexities of large donor funded programmes across low and middle-income countries. Her most recent achievement was being awarded an Artificial Intelligence grant in March 2024, to develop an AI enhanced decision support tool for clinicians managing Advanced HIV Disease in South Africa.
Dr. Njeri has a deep understanding of global health and development issues which has enhanced her cultural and political sensitivity and awareness. These are skills that she employs to navigate political and programmatic barriers whilst collaborating with internal stakeholders including corporate services and fleet, strategic information and analytics, finance, and human resources as well as external stakeholders including high level NGO and funder staff, and local and international government officials.
Dr. Njeri has represented various organisations at provincial and national level meetings and national technical working groups. She interacts with a wide range of people and adapts effectively to different situations. In March 2024, Dr. Njeri successfully completed a one-year hybrid Surgical Leadership Programme at Harvard Medical School: Boston Massachusetts, USA.
