Centered around the theme " Transforming Research Translation-Reimagining Public Health Evidence, Policies, and Practice”, Public Health Association of South Africa conference (PHASA) looked to engage public health practitioners from around the country, region, and the world to share their experiences, research, discuss topical public health issues, and mentor public health students and young researchers.
During this conference, Aurum technical experts presented their significant findings from a wide range of projects, covering adolescent health, digital health, communicable diseases, vaccines, and key populations.
Presenting their Posters were:
- Technical Director, Jacqui Pienaar on Digital Health, and Key Populations: Participant perspectives on usability and acceptability of SMS-based telehealth follow-up after voluntary medical male circumcision in South Africa.
- Senior Programme Manager, Matshidiso Chabane on Adolescent Health and Community: I am not at risk for HIV: The association between self-reported high-risk behaviours and self-risk perception among MSM in South Africa.
- Community Engagement Manager, Sesona Sotshongaye on Communicable Diseases and Vaccines: Demand creation is the heart of COVID-19 vaccine rollout in the communities.
In her oral presentation, Senior Programme Manager, Lungile Mbata presented on Ensuring compliance to quality standards in COVID-19 vaccination services.
PHASA advocates equitable access to the basic conditions necessary to achieve health for all South African as well as equitable access to effective health care.
This conference was held at the Boardwalk Convention Centre, Gqeberha in Port Elizabeth.
As we celebrate our 25th Anniversary this year, it is crucial to uphold our mission, to generate evidence for policy and translate policy into practice to positively impact the health of communities globally at conferences such as PHASA.
