As The Aurum Institute we celebrate Neo Hutiri, the innovative mind behind Pelebox, a revolutionary smart locker system transforming healthcare access. Neo's invention has drastically reduced wait times for chronic medication, enabling patients to collect their prescriptions in under two minutes, bypassing long queues at public clinics.
Neo's remarkable achievement continues to garner recognition. Recently, he was awarded the prestigious Africa Prize Alumni Medal from the Royal Academy of Engineering. This accolade highlights his impactful contributions to engineering innovation, addressing local challenges and improving healthcare delivery across Africa.
Aurum, like Hutiri, is dedicated to ensuring healthcare access and to do so we developed and use an innovative home delivery project that has facilitated the safe distribution of medication to hundreds of individuals, ensuring convenient and guaranteed access to healthcare. The COVID-19 pandemic presented several obstacles to access to care with limited and restricted movement for several months. To mitigate these challenges, we augmented our partnership with Neo and his Pelebox initiative to ensure uninterrupted access to life-saving chronic medication for our clients.
This collaboration aligns with Aurum's commitment to supporting the Department of Health's Medicines Dispensing and Distribution programme, enhancing access to essential treatment for communities in need.
