In commemoration of African Vaccination Week/ World Immunisation Week 2023, Aurum is pleased to announce that we have administered almost 400 000 vaccinations since the implementation of COVID-19 vaccine in August 2021 across South Africa.
Aurum reached this milestone through the support of Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Solidarity Fund, ADAPT study and the National Department of Health
Our initiatives, which put strong demand creation and substantial community participation at the forefront made our vaccination efforts succeed in South Africa's seven provinces—Eastern Cape, Free State, Gauteng, KwaZulu Natal, Mpumalanga, North West, and Western Cape.
The organisation has also been able to give health education through the provision of reliable information and have used GIS-targeted recruitment in areas with low vaccine uptake, using a multi-modal approach to reach different populations and reaching out to malls, old-age homes, and schools.
As part of the demand creation strategies, we have partnered with different community radio stations to drive COVID-19 vaccine massaging to masses, in the Nelson Mandela Bay in the Eastern Cape, we partnered with (Nqubela FM), Mangaung in Free State (Mosupatsela FM) and Tshwane in Gauteng (Moretele Community Radio).
Additionally, Aurum has launched a “Aurum Vax” TikTok page, which addresses everything COVID-19 vaccination related, and we also share our weekly schedules and the work conducted on the ground.
The support of different districts and the community leaders has led to the increase of vaccination numbers as the teams continue to soar to greater heights.
